ドクターオデッセイ 第4話: スムージー、鍼治療のリスク、そしてハリケーンの冒険

It’s Wellbeing Week on Doctor Odyssey, but don’t let the theme fool you. Nothing goes well for the crew OR the passengers aboard the Odyssey in episode 4.
After the plastic surgery disasters of last episode, we find the ship Odyssey sailing straight into a hurricane. As if things couldn’t get worse, after Avery (Phillipa Soo) learns she’s won a scholarship to medical school, she faces a medical emergency of her own: a case of appendicitis. Luckily, Tristan (Sean Teale) and Dr. Max (Joshua Jackson) come to his rescue.
Avery isn’t the only passenger to get sick in this episode. Amy Sedaris guest stars as wellness influencer Bethany Welles, who doesn’t seem to be a fan of Max’s “crimson aura.” Bethany suffers from copper poisoning, caused by her own health preparation.
Tension heightens with the arrival of Bethany’s personal chef, Vivian (Laura Harrier), who is not as good as she claims. In an effort to reduce the raw food served, Max asks Tristan to supervise the kitchen preparation. Tristan begins an unlikely romance with Vivian: the duo can’t seem to separate their hands or their lips. Avery is undoubtedly jealous of the budding couple. The love triangle (quadrangle, if you count Max) will continue, as Vivian becomes a permanent member of the ship’s kitchen staff.

Despite the unpredictable weather, luckily things didn’t go to the FULL Titanic for the Odyssey.
Other guest stars in this episode include Margaret Cho and Kate Berlant, who play wellness-obsessed cruise guests Judy and Agnes. Ironically, they find themselves facing a health crisis when their “Diva Dust smoothies” cause kidney failure. (No, a mysterious smoothie concoction can’t cure dyslexia or hiccups.) All is not well on the ship, especially when Agnes “accidentally” punctures Judy’s lung during a workout. acupuncture.
The drama will continue in next week’s Halloween-themed episode, which welcomes zombie diseases (and maybe even living zombies) aboard the Odyssey.
